For anyone reading this who is still in college, know that you too can post enough for 5 years and eventually this becomes a job. Which is to say: now annual coverage of the 35th Philadelphia Film Festival will be commencing on Thursday Oct. 15 running all the way to the end on Saturday October 25th. My press badge has been acquired and my schedule mostly figured out. Of the very good Centerpiece lineup I’m only missing two: La Bola Negra (because for some godforsaken reason, I decided I should try to have a social life) and Wild Horse Nine (it’s going to be coming near me anyways and it was the only other time I could see The Dreamed Adventure). This year so far feels a little different in that there weren’t a ton of surprises from the lineup – save I Play Rocky, thankfully – and I basically know about all the big hitters even more ahead of time. At least two of them are now things I have official commissions for that will show up later. Some others might happen in the future so I’ll try not to go too long on them for both my own sanity and for preservation. No promises of course. Expect block posts to go up around noon each day and hey, maybe add some of these to a watchlist in case they do come out soon.
